Enlisted Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Stargate, etc. Pretty much all of the big pop producers and writers. She released a lot of the collab remixes when they were floating around the top 10 but couldnt break into that #1 spot. Those collab remixes would artificially boost it for a week to get it to #1.

Britney Spears released a remix of Till The World Ends with Kesha and Nicki Minaj. All in the middle of Gaga’s BTW promo era. Oh did I forget to mention that Beyonce released her 4th album shortly after Gaga?

In the end of all of the drama and fighting between all of the major pop bases to try and be the next pop queen. Adele destroys all of the pop girls with her album sales and singles success without relying on cheap marketing gimmicks like Katy, Rihanna, and Britney. Not too mention cleaning most everyone’s clock during award season."

Here is why in the shortest sense:

  • iTunes

People were buying individual songs in droves. It was nothing like it is now. Multiple hit songs off on album was more than possible. Multi-platinum hits were coming out so quickly. There were way more hit songs then there is now in capacity because of this.

Katy could easily release songs months after another and gain more sales.

You might not also realize that once an album was released you could continue to put out singles after. Firework, E.T., TGIF, One that got away, were all put out after the album came out. That’s not nearly possible today anymore.

  • the 30-40 year old demographic loved her

Maybe this is just my parents and their friends. They all had a strange love for Katy. I remember my mom and dad asked me if I could loan my copy of Teenage Dream to their friends so they could play it.

  • She has sex appeal while still being able to be listened to by kids

You ever notice that straight guys lust over Katy more than other popstars? Katy 100% played into it and selling sex was part of this album cycle. Sure many did others it before but none of them actually had good songs with it. I mean memes about Katy Perry’s boobs being big were all over the internet at the time, even news articles over her boobs.

but she still had a strong foot in every demographic. Kids could listen for the fun pop, Teenagers/early20s could play it at parties, Adults could enjoy her sex appeal,

  • Pop being the dominate genre

I’ll just add again that pop was EVERYTHING to everyone in the early 2010s. Electropop was a fresh sound in 2010 and hearing it on Gaga, Kesha and Rihanna songs were groundbreaking. It was like hearing something you’ve never heard before.

Just want to add that people were way more interested in female popstars. and I mean everyone. Dua Lipa is known by teens and 20-somethings, but if you ask my 40-year old mom she doesn’t know who that is.

Katy wasn’t like that. Kids, teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, elder, gays, straights, men and women all knew her. and she wasn’t so polarizing that anyone could hate her. and usually straight guys hate pop music but Katy having sex appeal allowed her to be more accepted.

e não vejo nada de errado lançar um ou dois remixes pra impulsionar uma música, mas quando se torna um verdadeiro EP avulso tipo aquela pataquada do BTS na época de Butter e Dynamite, que lançaram uns 10 remixes de cada música pra upar os pontos da Hot 100, aí vira putaria
