A cantora Taylor Swift, 35, lançou seu 12º álbum de estúdio, “The Life of a Showgirl”, na madrugada desta sexta-feira (3). O projeto abre com a canção “The Fate of Ophelia” (“O Destino de Ofélia”, em português), uma referência à personagem de “Hamlet”, peça escrita por William Shakespeare.
A própria cantora já afirmou que se inspirou na trágica história da personagem para compor o single romântico, em que ela diz ter sido salva de sofrer o mesmo destino de Ofélia – que enlouquece e morre afogada ao cair num rio.
“(Todo aquele tempo) que fiquei sozinha na minha torre/ Você estava apenas aprimorando os seus poderes/ Agora consigo entender tudo (consigo entender tudo)/ (Certa noite) você me desenterrou da minha cova e/ Salvou o meu coração do destino de Ofélia (Ofélia)”, diz o refrão da música, traduzido para o português.
Conheça a história de Ofélia em “Hamlet”
A peça escrita por Shakespeare conta a história do jovem príncipe da Dinamarca chamado Hamlet, que decide vingar a morte de seu pai após receber a revelação de que seu tio Cláudio foi o responsável por matá-lo.
Ofélia faz o papel de interesse amoroso e futura esposa de Hamlet. Ela faz parte da corte real, filha de Polônio e irmã de Laertes.
Retratada como uma jovem inocente e obediente, Ofélia está apaixonada pelo príncipe, e sua família passa a se preocupar com as verdadeiras intenções de Hamlet, até que Polônio ordena que a filha se afaste do amado.
Em um momento de raiva e descontrole, Hamlet mata Polônio e se mostra cruel com Ofélia. A personagem, então, começa a demonstrar sinais de loucura, colhendo e distribuindo flores e cantando canções desconexas.
Ela sofre uma morte trágica ao cair no rio enquanto colhia flores e se afoga lentamente enquanto canta.
Na literatura, Ofélia passou a simbolizar a mulher inocente levada à loucura por conta do amor e da falta de controle sobre a própria vida, entregue às mãos de homens
